Leo Full Moon on 1/28/21
This week brings a mixed bag of intense, beautiful and possibly shocking events…that slows down by week’s end.
Specifically, this week’s energy is ALL about the larger-than-life Leo Full Moon on Thursday, January 28th…and Mercury going into retrograde for the first time in 2021 on Saturday the 30th.
Full Moon in Leo on 1/28:
Look back to mid-August (8/18/20) to the Leo New Moon and see what situations, projects, or relationships began to grow around that time in your life: you may see some real progress, resolution, or make a big decision concerning one of them this week!
Full Moons are generally times of celebration and release. They’re our roughly-monthly times to take stock of how far we’ve come on our paths and course correct if we need to. Sometimes, we find out important intel, or secrets come crashing down—and these push us to make a decision we weren’t expecting to have to address. Thus, Full Moons are also times of cutting away situations that no longer serve us and of endings.
That doesn’t mean we have monthly breakups and job loss, though! Sometimes, the “endings” are more about our assumptions and beliefs that actually HINDER our progress.
Here’s an example to show how this worked in my own life:
On last month’s Full Moon in my “community” zone, I learned a single piece of information (the identity of an internet influencer) that helped me connect the dots (this person was the same person I knew in real life, and they had completely fabricated most of their brand and internet identity to amass a huge following) to a giant revelation *I* had about online communities and the wellness/spirituality industries (that many people lie to make money on the internet, that many wellness, self-help and spiritual “gurus” are merely playing to the camera, and that my own insights are just as valid), and ultimately about my own online presence (not to take the Instagram game so personally, to speak my perspective, and to not censor myself so much).
See how one single piece of information started an entire domino effect that changed an entire area of my life? This is often how Full Moons work.
THIS Full Moon also has some jarring and fabulous aspects to it:
It’s the Luckiest Day of the Year (Jupiter meets up with the Sun):
Good luck planet Jupiter only sits with the Sun one day a year, and this time, it happens on the day of our Full Moon. No matter what happens, we will see the bright side, have ample opportunity show up for us, and stretch to expand ourselves and our lives and “go higher.” However,
Mars and Uranus are party crashers:
Aggressive Mars and shocking Uranus both form nasty angles to the Full Moon, meaning that those pieces of intel might really pull the rug out from under us…or be shared in hostile ways. Thus, expect the unexpected, but know that you’re cosmically protected in the end.

Mercury goes retrograde on 1/30:
Mercury goes retrograde on Saturday, January 30th, where he’ll remain in reverse until February 20th. The communication and mental-agility planet will appear to go backwards (from our point of view, here on Earth) in the sign of Aquarius.
Mercury retrogrades can jumble our schedules, cloud our thinking and speaking abilities, and usher in all sorts of problems with electronic devices and software—meanwhile, the sign of Aquarius is ALL about technology and communicating with lot and lots of people. Thus, if I were going to put 2-and-2 together, I’d say that we should be extra mindful of what we share and post on social media and online for the next few weeks…and that extends to what we email others.
Mercury Retrograde is NOT the ideal time to start NEW things or make big purchases. In fact, if you can avoid it, try not to sign any contracts or make any binding agreements while you’re at it. In daily life, expect more stop-starts, cancellations, missing information, or ghosting until February 20th.
Now, Mercury in reverse, while NOT good for so many new initiatives and purchases, IS good for reworking, researching, revisiting, and reconnecting with people and projects from your past. Don’t sign the job contract…unless it’s with someone you worked with before. Don’t start filming that online course…unless it’s a project you’ve had on the back burner or been gestating for a while. Get it?
