The New Moon in Leo is our highlight for the week, followed by communication planet Mercury changing signs to cerebral Virgo.
New Moon in Leo on 8/8 at 9:50AM EST / 6:50AM PST:
Make a wish! On Sunday, we get our annual New Moon in the showy sign of Leo. As you know, New Moons are times to clarify your desires and take steps forward towards your most dearly-held dreams. THIS New Moon is is more difficult than most, as it clashes with jarring Uranus and is opposed to restrictive Saturn, so we might feel some pressure and obligation that clashes with some surprises.
The basics of writing New Moon Intentions goes something like this (paraphrased from DECADES of following Jan Spiller’s directions from her book, “New Moon Astrology”):
Write your wishes AFTER the New Moon has occurred, ideally within the first 8 hours (up to 48 okay, but earlier is better). So basically, write them Sunday AFTER 9:50AM EST / 6:50AM PST…or write them anytime Monday.
Write wishes in the POSITIVE tense. Don’t talk about what you DON’T want…paint the picture of what you WOULD like to co-create with the Universe.
DON’T wish for other people. Instead, wish for what you desire to have/be/feel on YOUR side of the relationship.
Only one wish per wish.
Use adverbs (“easily,” “quickly,” “joyously,” etc.) so the ride is smooth!

Mercury moves into Virgo on 8/11:
On Wednesday, communication planet Mercury leaves the extravagant sign of Leo to work in exacting and efficient Virgo. Expect more Pros-and-Cons lists, bullet-pointed conversations, analysis and over-analysis, and lively precision in how you express your words and ideas. Be careful that you’re not soooo detail-oriented that you truly miss out on the main idea. And PLEASE don’t reply to a heart-wrenching, soul-baring email with corrections on their grammar!
That said, if you want to organize your life, your closet, your calendar, your job function, or your daily wellness habits, your mind will be on fire for the next few weeks, until 8/29.
